Turning Advocacy into Action for Prime Agricultural Land

One Nation candidate for Murray Plains Garner Smith asks what I have done about Labor's reckless renewable-energy rollout.
In April 2023, I publicly attacked AEMO's sham VNI West consultation with landowners.
In August 2023, I stood beside farmers protesting at St Arnaud, Horsham, Charlton and Spring Street, then hosted affected farmers in Canberra and engaged the federal Energy Infrastructure Commissioner to assist.
In February 2024, I warned potential wind turbine hosts of a potential $600,000 per turbine decommissioning liability – now more like $1 million. I spoke at the Canberra ‘Reckless Renewables Rally’ on 6 February 2024.
I secured a 9 February 2024 meeting for Mallee farmers that lived within the VNI West corridor to tell Energy Minister Bowen in Canberra face-to-face that they reject the project.
In February 2025 I said proposed wind projects in Mallee are a blight on our environment and landscape and on 28 March 2025 brought shadow federal and state energy ministers to Marnoo for a large public meeting opposing VNI West.
On 18 August 2025 I brought Senator Bridget McKenzie to Marnoo again for a public meeting against VNI West.
On 29 August 2025 I protested beside farmers during the PM’s attendance at the Ballarat Bush Summit. The PM claimed he ‘gets it’ but farmers heckled him and tractors chased him out of town.
I work with countless constituents across Mallee privately advising them how to protect their farms and property rights.  At the start of 2026 I drafted the Prime Agricultural Land Protection Bill to stop federal funding diminishing prime agricultural land.  Matt Canavan tabled that Bill in the Senate in his first act as Nationals leader.
On 21 May 2026 I brought Matt Canavan to St Arnaud, where he committed The Nationals federally to stop VNI West.  The Nationals for Regional Victoria have also agreed to stop VNI West.
I helped organise a 28 July 2026 public meeting in Pyramid Hill opposing a wind farm that The Nationals’ Murray Plains candidate Brett Hosking supported. Lest anyone be unclear, Mr Hosking’s family was approached by renewable companies about hosting wind turbines – but declined.
