The Nationals’ Member for Mallee Dr Anne Webster launches campaign
Leader of The Nationals David Littleproud has launched the campaign of The Nationals’ Member for Mallee Dr Anne Webster.
Mr Littleproud said Dr Anne Webster had been a fierce advocate for her community and would continue to work hard and improve local services.
“Anne Webster has been a shining light for Mallee in Parliament, in The Nationals’ party room and in her conversations with me,” Mr Littleproud said.
“Everywhere she goes, Anne is always bringing Mallee’s perspective to the national spotlight, giving her constituents a voice.
“Dr Webster is proud to be part of a team with a vision and a future for regional areas including Mallee.
“A Coalition Government will introduce a Regional Australia Future Fund (RAFF). This fund is about putting regional people first and leaving a legacy for future generations.”
Dr Anne Webster said Mallee residents will at long last drive on better roads, have better health care services and families will have better access to childcare thanks to the RAFF if the Coalition is elected to government on May 3.
“Last week I visited some of Mallee’s 70 largest communities across the electorate’s 83,412-square-kilometres at mobile offices and they, like the others I visit, consistently raise the dangerous and appalling state of our roads – indeed, I travel on many of them,” Dr Webster said.
“The Coalition’s debt-busting, nation-building funds will provide permanent, annual funding dedicated for Mallee, improve our cost of living, support strategic infrastructure, boost investment and productivity, and strengthen regional economies by creating opportunity in the nation’s engine room outside capital cities.”
A Coalition Government will also invest $1 billion to empower local councils across Australia, giving them the flexibility to prioritise and deliver critical community infrastructure and road projects, tailored to their communities’ needs.
The revitalised Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program will strengthen communities, enhance resilience, and improve local roads. It will be delivered through two dedicated funding streams, each worth $500 million:
“Mallee Shires are hanging out for the return of LRCI. Many of them are doing it really tough and paring back their activities just to survive. The Coalition’s LRCI program had enabled them to invest in their local priority roads and infrastructure, which has been vital given the prohibitive funding criteria the Albanese and Allan Labor governments have set for their government funding, and the Albanese government’s brazen disinterest in funding Mallee shires,” Dr Webster said.
“The reinstated LRCI funding will allow councils to deliver more critical community infrastructure without shifting the financial burden onto ratepayers and is part of our plan to get Australia back on track.”
Dr Webster's campaign launch was at The Office in Langtree Avenue, Mildura on Monday night also attended by Member for Mildura, Jade Benham MP and supporters.
