Australian Government funding for the Mildura Clay Target Club is continuing with the next $400,000 in funding released today, allowing the club to continue its work on the project.
Member for Mallee, Anne Webster MP said additional sporting infrastructure will attract new participants, which is great for people’s health and wellbeing.
“The total grant of $1.2 million means the Mildura Clay Target Club have been able to put their plans into action,” Dr Webster said.
“This project will provide essential upgrades to the Clubs facilities and will allow the club to attract national and international events, bringing visitors and tourist dollars to Mildura and surrounds.
“It will allow our local shooters, like Luke Argiro, the opportunity to compete in qualifying events at home rather than having to travel.
“I’m sure the Mildura Clay Target Club is as keen as the local community to see this project take shape.”
“Great sports infrastructure encourages people to get active and stay active.
This grant is part of the Australian Government’s commitment of over $40 million through its Community Development Grants Program, so communities have the facilities they need to enjoy sport and recreational activities.
“It’s great to see the progress that has already been made and I look forward to hearing more about the upgrades, especially the catch fence as it progresses and the events the club will be able to attract.” Dr Webster said.
“Our local sports clubs are the heart of Mallee, and I know this project by the Mildura Clay Target Club will benefit our community now and into the future.”
